Traditional Afternoon Tea
£25.50 for two people
A pot of house tea and a plain or sultana scone with strawberry preserve and clotted cream, along with a choice of cakes from our delicious homemade selection, and a choice of sandwich each from Ham, Tuna, Egg and Cress, Cheese, Coronation Chicken or Roast Chicken served with a salad garnish.

Afternoon Tea By Way Of The Duchess….
During the early nineteeth century, Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford is said to have complained of “having that sinking feeling” during the late afternoon.
At the time it was usual for people to take only two main meals a day: breakfast, and dinner at around 8pm.
The solution for the Duchess was a pot of tea and a light snack, taken privately in her boudoir during the afternoon.
Friends were invited round to join her in her rooms at Woburn Abbey where the practice proved so popular, the Duchess continued it when she returned to London.
